Selfbook introduces the latest addition to its Direct booking ecosystem: Flexible Cancellation. While hotels have long had to deal with unpredictable cancellations, which result in discounting to capture last-minute bookings, Flexible Cancellation flips the hotel cancellation predicament on its head.
Designed to help hotels drive revenue from canceled bookings in addition to reducing and better predicting cancellation rates, this new feature was crafted to reimagine how cancellations impact hotels’ bottom line.
Benefits of Flexible Cancellation
Flexible Cancellation offers significant benefits to hotels and guests alike. By reducing cancellation rates and creating a new revenue stream for bookings that are canceled within a protected cancellation window, this new feature also helps hotels gain better control over their inventories through enhanced predictability. Guests benefit from Flexible Cancellation by gaining more flexibility, control and peace of mind over their bookings.
Boost Ancillary Revenue
Hotels can commoditize cancellations by collecting a fee for bookings canceled within the protected Flexible Cancellation window.
Reduce Cancellations
By enhancing guests’ control over their cancellation options, this feature is designed to minimize unexpected cancellations.
Improve Predictability
By incentivizing guests with protected cancellation windows, hotels can better predict cancellation rates.
How It Works
Built for Selfbook Direct, Flexible Cancellation enables hotels to commoditize cancellation policies. Depending on the original policy type selected, guests can pay a small fee to either extend their cancellation window or shorten it and save on their room rate.
Non-Refundable Rate
Guests can pay a fee to receive Flexible Cancellation as an add-on to a non-refundable rate. This option provides guests with a protected cancellation window during which they can cancel their booking for any reason. The hotel collects the fee for protected cancellations.
Refundable Rate
Guests can save money on flexible and fully refundable rates by electing to shorten their cancellation protection window. With this option, the guest pays a fee but receives a discount on the rate, resulting in savings for the guest. The hotel collects the fee for protected cancellations.
Fee Collection
Selfbook immediately charges guests for the Flexible Cancellation fee. If guests cancel the booking within the protected cancellation window for either rate type, Selfbook sends the full fee to the hotel.
